last night/this morning was totally awesome.

i love honours year.

less in love with the fact that the essay went in an hour late. pretty damn pissed at myself for that.

can’t believe i broke the streak. :(

but well. last night/this morning was still awesome. don’t think i’ve laughed so much while writing/reading so many words before. don’t think i’ve heard/made sooo many phallic jokes in one night before.

Whenever I’m trying to Sheltox a cockroach to death, and it flaps madly and disappears, I always have the fear that it’s gone off to find it’s father/big brother/whatever, and that rearing up behind me, feelers waving menancingly, is a giant cockroach, towering over me, getting ready to smooosh me, or snap me in two or something.

Just watched (500) Days of Summer (ok, so it’s been 12 hours, but well.)

It’s awesome.

Basically it was an awesome night out. Good dinner, fun company+conversation, great movie. GREAT.

Loved the cinematography, the intertextual references, the fantastic bit of homage to French Surrealist films, LOVED IT.

plus, there’s this fantastically cheeky, funny scene with the ever-adorable and hasn’t-aged-a-day-in-ten-years Joseph Gordon-Levitt:

So I’ve been managing to coast along for all three of my lit classes, reading minimally, if at all, and managing to smoke convincingly in class and online.

What’s so bad about that?

It’s Week 11.

All three classes have major essays looming.

I have like, fuck-loads to read.

I’m such a freakin’ genius.

. . .

I really hate having to be accountable to other people. hate it.

I like being responsible for just me. just my stuff, so if I fuck up, I fuck up my own life, and I have no one to blame but myself. I hate being responsible for other things, hate having to report to other people, HATE IT.

I know it’s a moronic rant about something that is just a way of life, and I know that no matter what kind of work I end up doing, even if I go after that pipe dream, I’m never going to be able to just be responsible to just myself, but I still hate it. I hate the pressure of having to deliver. I hate having to just be that person there. THERE.

RARRRRRRGH.

i just want to be in charge of my own life, and nothing else. I don’t want  to be relied on, I don’t want to be delegated to. I just want to be left alone to wallow in my laziness and utter lack of maturity.

think the impending super-heavy three weeks looming in the not-so-distant future is getting to my subconscious. actually I think just the stress of Honours year is getting to me.

Despite the fact that I dislike the Woodlands kitchen at a rather ‘instinctual’ level, I’ve had quite a few deeply satisfying meals here. Ham-and-soft-cheese sandwiches on croissants and baguettes, grilled (or pan-seared half-to-death) zucchini slices, and today’s fantastic salad. After a day that started way to early (and rainy), thinking about Conrad and the Insides of My PC, and fighting with heartland aunties and uncles at the supermarket, this was really the perfect way to just—destress. The only things I added to the original recipe were grilled zucchini (the leftover half from the batch I grilled earlier this week to accompany my ham-boursin-and-smidge-of-honey croissant), and some grilled french beans.

SO GOOD. Crunchy lettuce, tangy-rich dressing, sweet tomatoes, salty-goaty feta, and delish grilled vegs. Mmmm. All that was missing was a good cold beer. Like a Sol or something. Mmmmmmmmm.

It’s given me the energy (and more importantly, the will) to study for the impending IT test. I’m still kinda in shock about that.

(Both the test, which I managed to forget about for the SECOND time this module, and the fact that I’m studying..)

ok, back to BIOS, ROM, RAM, and all that good stuff.

the new Glee obsession is really spreading like wildfire! I’m really really happy, as not only are there many-er people to jump excitedly with, but this means (hopefully) that the worst won’t happen.

The obsession has also been manifesting itself in incessant youtubing. clips, songs, etc. Also, after listening to Lea Michele’s version of Take A Bow like, 50 times, I decided that I should go check out the original to like, refresh my memory. So I went and watched the Rihanna video, and decided that her version is actually really good too. I love how the two versions are really very different. Then, cos youtube has all these links at the side, I went to watch her “Hate That I Love You” video. It’s an okay song; the video concept is quite nice too, but what I really loved about the video was just this like, 7 second bit that’s just really fantastically cut. LOVE IT. It’s making me miss the SMG (Sheares Motion…….geniuses?) days of sitting around playing with video editing.
