Across the water, across the deep blue ocean July 15, 2008

The song of the moment is Lucky, by Jason Mraz and Colbie Cailat.

Just listening it brings to mind a wide, white sandy beach, completely devoid of anyone but me, and the deep blue ocean—calm, slow, zen waves splashing, splashing, splashing on the shore.

The song makes me want to just—sink into cool blue waters, to just feel waves flowing through my hair, to move in dreamy underwater slow-motion, to hear nothing—nothing.

It makes me want to lie on a quiet, empty, sunny beach, just me, a deck chair, an umbrella, cool slushy drinks, and a good book.

I need some peace. I need to just sit, quietly, by myself, in a place that is totally mine. Untrespassable. A place no one else even knows about: a place all mine, a place—to steal the title of a Ken Follet book—called Freedom.

I want to feel at peace, utterly at peace with myself, with the world. At the risk of sounding like I’m about to kill myself, I need to just feel happy—truly, completely, simply. I want to wrap myself up in a beautiful blue sky, I want to curl up in a big, peaceful cloud, I want to just—be.

And so I’m sailing through the sea
To an island where we’ll meet
You’ll hear the music fill the air
I’ll put a flower in your hair
Though the breezes through trees
Move so pretty you’re all I see
As the world keeps spinning round
You hold me right here right now
