For all that I’m ploughing through yards of traditional Chinese, I’m feeling very happy right now.
I do love the interior of the National Library—I hate the way the building looks, all steel and glass, from the outside, and I really miss the old National Library, but inside—inside the NLB kinda rocks.
I love the high ceilings and big windows that give you the sense of being outside—whilst being inside. I love the view from the windows—I love the way this area looks. The mix of architectural ’styles’ is just the coolest. This is one of those views that I just do not have the skill to capture on camera—old HDB blocks, shophouse-y in style, with kids’ playgrounds a good four or five storeys above ground, plonked next to shiny ‘marble’-façaded Allson Hotel, behind that small ‘Renaissance’ style Catholic church with it’s tiny dome and steeple—the whole scene makes me feel as if it’s a picture made up of different picture postcards set together for a laugh.
It’s a good feeling, sitting here, looking out the window.

“So, what’re you doing with yourself now that you’re on holiday?”
I believe the picture sufficiently answers that question….
Yeah, this is my life right now—waay too many traditional chinese words. Even that trusty red dictionary isn’t much help—since all the freaking words are in freaking traditional chinese.
sigh.
a pox on cheena schools, a pox, I say!
riight.
